MarshallZehr has a talented team of real estate, construction and development, and financial experts. All of our team members bring a wealth experience, skills, and diverse backgrounds. We’re going to be highlighting some of these talented MZ’ers, what they do with us, and what makes them tick.
This week we are getting to know Daniel Kurisko, who joined MarshallZehr at the end of 2020 as part of our growing Business Development team:
When did you join MarshallZehr? What are you responsible for at MZ?
I joined MarshallZehr in December 2020. Before that, I worked at a couple of companies moving between tax auditing, financial auditing, and financial reporting. My passion for real estate began in 2015 when I worked in Toronto as an auditor within PWC’s Real Estate and Asset Management group while obtaining my CPA, CA designation. As a Business Development Analyst, I am responsible for underwriting our investment products, executing the due diligence process, and preparing investment summary packages.
What about our industry or MZ excites you?
MarshallZehr is active in the real estate financing industry. This is an exciting area since I can creatively utilize my financial background while underwriting our investment products. Further, I can interact with various real estate and finance professionals every day; this client service is a great way to complement the quantitative aspects of the role. I also enjoy learning more about the cities and neighborhoods where our active and prospective financings are located. It’s also very fulfilling to drive past completed real estate developments within the community and know we made a difference in the places people call home.
As a company, MarshallZehr invests heavily in its people, processes, and technology. As a result, every day, I can collaborate with awesome co-workers. On the technology side, MarshallZehr’s proprietary software streamlines the underwriting and funding process, which improves the quality of the service we deliver, helps to clarify complexities, and provides insights in a user-friendly manner. MarshallZehr’s commitment to stakeholders and technology makes my work enjoyable. The coffee at the office is also delicious!
Tell us a bit about yourself away from work
I like to keep busy with hobbies like fitness, golf, playing guitar, gourmet cooking, Toastmasters, and hiking.
